Family Lawyers

Remuneration is competitive with the upper limits set by your performance. Pay based on contract or base salary + bonus, at your preference.

Disclosure Clerk

Are you meticulous, organized, and passionate about helping families navigate the legal complexities of separation and divorce? Oakley Family Law is seeking a dedicated Disclosure Clerk to join our compassionate team. As a Disclosure Clerk, you will play a crucial role in reviewing, organizing, and preparing financial disclosure received from clients and opposing parties to facilitate the resolution of separations and divorces.

Responsibilities

  • Review and organize personal and corporate financial disclosure provided by clients and opposing parties
  • Verify the accurateness and completeness of disclosure provided
  • Prepare summary reports as to information provided or missing
  • Draft Court of King’s Bench of Alberta Disclosure Statements for filing
  • Prepare disclosure binders for lawyers’ use at trial, mediation, and arbitration
  • Professionally communicate with lawyers, assistants, and clients
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive financial information

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a diploma or bachelor’s degree in business, bookkeeping, or accounting (or relevant work experience)
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of financial documents, financial statements, accounting principles, and terminology
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in-office Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours per day, with occasional overtime possible
  • Must love dogs

Compensation and Benefits

  • $20-25/hour to start or otherwise based on experience
  • Paid winter break (1 to 2 weeks depending on Court closure)
  • Miscellaneous non-statutory holidays and birthday paid

Articling Students

Please note that we are not currently in a position to accept articling students. However, you may be interested in the Juris Doctor Experiential Training Program by Oakley Family Law (JET x OFL).

JET x OFL is a new internship program we are pleased to offer recent JD graduates who may be considering family law as their preferred practice area. This is a three-month internship designed to provide law school graduates, who are not yet articling, interesting and valuable opportunities to shadow experienced family lawyers. Created in the name of our Director of Barketing, and embodying his spirit of making everyone feel welcome and comfortable, JET x OFL has been designed with the mission of helping future lawyers in Alberta find fulfilling careers in family law.
