Fatima Zulfiqar knows what it feels like to navigate an unfamiliar system, and she brings that understanding to every client who walks through our door.

Born abroad, Fatima immigrated to Canada with her family in 2002 and has called Alberta home ever since. Her path to law was shaped by years of experience in policy and government, giving her a depth of understanding that goes well beyond the courtroom.

Fatima is a proud graduate of Mount Royal University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Policy Studies and a minor in Sociology. Her academic excellence was recognized through receiving the Jason Lang Scholarship and being named to the Dean’s List at Mount Royal University. Fatima’s academic journey then continued at the University of Southampton’s law school where she earned her LLB/JD. She completed her National Committee of Accreditation Qualification through the Federation of Law Societies of Canada to become eligible to practice law in Canada in 2025.

Prior to joining Oakley Family Law as a legal assistant in 2023 and then articling student, Fatima served as a legislative researcher for the Alberta government, where she developed strong skills in research, analysis, and policy. That experience informs everything she does, from how she reads a statute to how she approaches a litigation file. Her calm presence, careful listening, and genuine compassion make a real difference to clients who are navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Outside of the office, Fatima enjoys spending time with friends and family, diving into documentaries, and exploring the beauty of the Rocky Mountains.
