DEMI OKUBOYEJO, B.A., J.D.
Lawyer

Demi is a lawyer with diverse legal experience and a passion for advocacy. She attended the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law and was the Valedictorian of her undergraduate class at Mount Royal University. She has prior work experience with a large national full-service law firm as well as boutique civil law firms. She completed her articles at a small Toronto-based firm where she gained experience in legal issues involving: First Nations governance, child welfare, employment law, environmental law, and human rights law. She has appeared before the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, the Provincial Court of Alberta, and the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal.

Community Involvement

In addition to her legal work, Demi enjoys volunteering. Currently, she co-hosts “The Ordinary Black Girl Podcast,” which creates space for honest and necessary conversations about the issues affecting Black women and other marginalized communities. During law school she volunteered with: Student Legal Assistance, the Black Law Student’s Association, and the Calgary Women Studying Law Association. She is also a current member of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers.
